Pierce Education Properties brought ID Studios in to collaborate with AVRP Studios on a new, seven-story ground-up off-campus student housing building just steps from the San Diego State University campus. Topaz Apartments is situated on Montezuma Road, the main street next to the University. The glass-lined lobby provides high visibility to passers-by so we placed a blue, angular graphic on the ceiling and filled the two-story volume with multi-sized globe lights that give the illusion of stars in the night sky. We followed that up with an energetic modern design aesthetic in the common areas and combined an open floor plan with furniture groupings to provide maximum flexibility.
