  1. 10th Annual Tables for Tots Charity Fundraiser

Tables for Tots 2018, ID Studios, Many Hearts Make a HomeID Studios was proud to be part of the 10th annual Tables for Tots Charity Fundraiser, benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego. Each year, designers from across San Diego take a simple, wooden children’s table and chair set and design masterpieces that are then auctioned off to members the community where the proceeds are donated to the charity. G/M Business Interiors has organized the event since 2009 and raised almost $500,000 to date. This year was their most amount raised for any single year at over $81,000!

This year’s theme was “Many Hearts Make a Home”. We know that dogs warm our hearts and are family members in many homes, so Jeni Champion and Mary Ford took the lead to design a house for our furry, canine family members. Spooners Woodworks did an excellent job at executing the design and Sherwin Williams provided the paint and painting supplies Dal-Tile and National Office Furniture sponsored other materials and accessories.

We think everyone knocked it out of the park and we’d like to thank the entire team!

  2. ID Studios Gives Back: Tables for Tots 2017

Each year, designers across San Diego donate their time and design skills to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego through the Tables for Tots program organized by G/M Business Interiors.

This year’s theme was “Boho Bash”. We went all out with the natural theme and designed a fun little planter box that we thought kids would love to garden and play in. We also included accessories like a child sized wheelbarrow, gardening supplies, live plants and garden themed toys. Based on the number of kids that dug in the soil at the event I’d say the planter box was a hit!

This year the event raised over $65,000 which brings the event’s overall total donated to $405,232 over the past nine years.

A big thank you to our sponsors, Spooner’s Woodworks for building our design and Swinerton Builders, Salem Wolfe, Bentley Mills and National Office Furniture who donated to our entry.

  3. IIDA Fashion Show San Diego 2015

The IIDA Haute Couture Fashion Show pays tribute to the many talents of our design community where San Diego’s esteemed design professionals strut their stuff down the runway outfitted in amazing garb constructed using only the materials provided to them by their sponsor and the fabric they collect at the Fabric Grab.

This year was a tribute to Album Art. Each firm selected an album and our team selected Nirvana‘s iconic album, Nevermind.

    Nevermind by Nirvana

In the 90s, Nirvana established themselves as THE grunge band.  Their influence transcended music into fashion and pop culture.  The sound and style became iconic because of the dynamic contrast of quiet verses and heavy choruses partnered with their messy, dirty, plaid sweaters. Our design draws influence from the infamous cover of the Nevermind album and the swimming baby.

ID Studios IIDA Fashion Show 2015 San Diego, Winner, Best Theme Inspiration

ID Studios has translated the image into a whimsical interpretation of an underwater fashion dream reminiscent of a wistful water nymph. The flowing fabric cascading from the model’s arms surrounds her with the ethereal nature of water while the simple style of her dress harkens the birthday suit worm by the child.

The materials that brought this concept to life include furniture hardware, mesh and gauzy textiles.

We were thrilled to win this year’s award for “Best Theme Inspiration”!

Thank you to our sponsor, Think Office Interiors and the team at ID Studios for working so hard to make this happen. Enjoy as Mary shows off our design.

Georges Seurat – A Sunday on La Grande Jatte

This year was a marriage of Design, Fashion and Art as design teams were challenged to create an outfit inspired by one of the world’s most popular paintings.

At ID Studios, we were tasked with drawing inspiration from the work of Georges Seurat, “A Sunday on La Grande Jatte,” a scene taken from the River Seine in France completed in 1884. We were immediately drawn to the figure of the woman in the bustle dress and wanted to create a modern take on this peek into 19th century Parisian society.

Seurat employed a technique called Pointillism by using small brushstrokes to create a unique look distinguished from the Impressionists of his time. We merged this inspiration with a 19th century French contemporary, Moulin Rouge. We lifted the bustle dress from the Seine, modernized the silhouette and gave it a cabaret edge by creating a fringe technique to create additional movement when the model graces the stage. Pointillism was a direct inspiration for the small pieces of yarn, tile and fabric which we layered in complimentary colors giving it a modern ombre’ look.

Part of the challenge is doing 100% of the construction in house. Luckily we have many talented employees that all lent a hand in putting it together. The results were stunning.

  6. Tables for Tots 2014 Event

ID Studios has participated in the local Tables for Tots annual event for years as a way to give back to the community through a fun and friendly design competition. This year’s theme was “Hero’s for Tots” and joined with 15 other firms to create a kid-friendly, usable piece of art.

This year, ID Studios was inspired by Batman. The title for our “table” was “To the Bat Cave! There’s not a moment to lose!”

    Tables for Tots 2014
ID Studios second place table in the Deconstructed category. “To The BatCave!”

“The Batcave serves as a place of privacy and tranquility where Batman can be himself and is also an ideal stronghold for his war against crime. You can avail yourself of this child size fortress and simultaneously be a real-life hero by helping to provide programs that strengthen families during difficult times.”

Our table was chosen to be included in the live auction and gained the second highest bid of the night! Overall, it was second place in the Deconstructed category. What a great event for everyone involved.

We would like to thank everyone who sponsored our table.

TablesForTots2013  Tables for Tots is an annual event where local design firms use their creative skills to transform a standard child’s table and chair set into something memorable that is auctioned off to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities San Diego.
This year’s theme is The Roaring 20’s and ID Studios stepped up to the plate by designing a piano / toy chest that we named “All Jazzed Up. Jazz revolutionized music in the 20’s and it’s soul is embodied by the piano. Ours breaks it down to kid’s proportions and age-appropriate entertainment. (see photos HERE)

  9. ID Studios, Inc. Wins Best Craftsmanship Award at IIDA Fashion Show

On March 14, 2013 the Southern California chapter of the IIDA held its annual Haute Couture fashion show where interior design firms are paired with architectural manufacturers. For this special night, interior designers become fashion designers where fashions are created using materials gathered exclusively from their sponsor’s product lines and the fabric they collect at the pre-event Fabric Grab.

The IIDA has this to say about this year’s event. “This year the talented design community of San Diego is being tasked with creating a musically themed outfit using the inspiration, ‘We are the music makers… We are the dreamers of DREAMS’. Each year the outfits get more stunning, more creative and more mind-blowing. This is an event that truly proves that the San Diego Design Community is second to none!”

ID Studios was lucky to be paired with DesignTex (designers of fabrics for upholstery and furnishing of commercial and institutional interiors) and Coalesse (premium furnishings brand that delivers progressive live/work solutions). They each provided an abundance of materials to choose from.

Going with the music theme, ID Studios decided to base their creation around the instantly recognizable rock legend KISS who are known to play up the visual side of rock with their iconic costumes, make-up and inspirational fashion. Taking on a more “fashionista” version of the male only band, sketches and inspiration picture centered on angular, edgy design studded with furniture hardware.

The process included everyone at ID Studios, designers and support staff alike. Even interns were included. Beautiful fabrics, usually meant for furnishings, were supplied by DesignTex and the talented staff of ID Studios re-interpreted them into a dark gray gown, perfect for embellishing. Sticking with the edgy rock theme, hardware was provided by Coallese. Screws, chair glides, a spool of zipper, deconstructed buttons and grommets were favorites for creating the stunning, studded look. “Wings” were added using upholstery vinyl and the edges finished with zipper.

The end result was a dramatic avant-garde gown complete with studded “wings” that highlight the various types of upholstery fabric and hardware provided by the sponsors. The judges agreed and awarded ID Studios with the “Best Craftsmanship” award; one of only four awards handed out that night out of the dozens of entries.
